The short version

First swing with the Barrel Golf Divot Tool and it is one of those small things you do not notice until you play a round without it. Small thing, but it saved me time on every hole I used it. The catch: it is easy to leave behind on a green, so mark it.

How it played

I put it in play for 9 rounds and never babied it — wet mornings, baked-out afternoons, the lot. What I keep coming back to is that it is one of those small things you do not notice until you play a round without it. Where it bit me: it is easy to leave behind on a green, so mark it — worth knowing before you spend the money.

How it looks

Well made, and it does not rattle around in the bag. I care less about that than how it feels, but it does not hurt.

What won me over

  • it survived a full season in the bag
  • it does one job and does it properly
  • the build quality is well above the price

Good to know before you buy

  • it is easy to leave behind on the course
  • the price is high for what it is

My verdict

7.8/10 from me. If you like the bag sorted rather than a jumble, the Barrel Golf Divot Tool earns its spot in the bag. If it is easy to leave behind on the course is a dealbreaker for you, keep looking.
