Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore Review

Wedge · 14 rounds in my bag

9.5/ 10

The short version

Two holes in with the Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore I knew: the ball stays on the face a fraction longer, and I can feel exactly where it hit. Half wedges from 60 yards stopped rolling out on me, which is the whole point of buying one. The catch: the grooves lose bite once wet grass gets involved, same as everything else.

How it played

Straight into the bag for 14 rounds with no easing-in period. What I keep coming back to is that the ball stays on the face a fraction longer, and I can feel exactly where it hit. Where it bit me: the grooves lose bite once wet grass gets involved, same as everything else — worth knowing before you spend the money.

How it looks

Simple grind, tidy grooves, and no shouting from the back. I care less about that than how it feels, but it does not hurt.

What won me over

  • spin holds up on the second-bounce check
  • the leading edge sits low on tight lies
  • open the face and it still sits flat

Good to know before you buy

  • the grooves will wear if you practise a lot
  • one grind will not suit every course

My verdict

9.5/10 from me. If you have a scoring club you do not trust from 100 yards in, the Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore earns its spot in the bag. If the grooves will wear if you practise a lot is a dealbreaker for you, keep looking.
