FootJoy Pro/SL Shoe Review
Still the best spikeless shoe for walking 36

The short version
The Pro/SL remains the walking golfer's shoe. Two rounds a day, wet fescue, cart paths — it grips and it does not wreck your feet. The trade-off is a firmer ride than a running-shoe-style trainer and a price that keeps creeping up.
How it played
Tested over roughly 40 rounds including a wet week on the Fife coast. No slippage on downhill lies, no water ingress, and the outsole nubs were still sharp at the end. The midsole compresses less than a max-cushion trainer, which is the price of the stability.
How it looks
Low, clean and unmistakably golf without the toe bulge of a traditional spiked shoe. The white/navy remains the safest pick; the all-white shows every bunker splash by the back nine.
What won me over
- Outstanding traction for a spikeless outsole
- Genuinely waterproof for two full seasons
- Clean, low-profile silhouette that works off course
- Wide fittings actually available
Good to know before you buy
- Firm underfoot on long walking days
- Premium price, and it rises every year
- Leather scuffs show quickly on lighter colours
My verdict
If you walk, buy them. If you ride every round and want cloud-soft comfort, look at a softer spikeless trainer instead.
