7.9/ 10
The short version
Palmer at La Cantera is the underrated half of the resort. It's quirky, it drops through an old quarry, and it will hand you three or four shots you have never played before.
How it played
Elevation makes club selection guesswork on the first loop. Greens were rolling well and are smaller than the Resort Course, so approach control matters more than distance.
How it looks
Quarry walls, sudden drops and a couple of blind tee shots that feel more Hill Country than resort.
What won me over
- quarry holes are genuinely memorable
- smaller greens make it a proper iron test
- cheaper than the sister course and often quieter
Good to know before you buy
- a few blind shots feel unfair the first time round
- highway noise on the outer holes
My verdict
7.9/10. Play it before the Resort Course if you only have one round in San Antonio.
