8.2/ 10
The short version
First swing with the Melin Hydro A-Game and it sits on my head without gripping it, and the sweatband actually does its job. A full day in the sun and it never once needed adjusting. The catch: light colours pick up sweat marks that do not fully wash out.
How it played
I put it in play for 7 rounds and never babied it — wet mornings, baked-out afternoons, the lot. What I keep coming back to is that it sits on my head without gripping it, and the sweatband actually does its job. Where it bit me: light colours pick up sweat marks that do not fully wash out — worth knowing before you spend the money.
How it looks
Clean crown, no oversized logo shouting from the front. I care less about that than how it feels, but it does not hurt.
What won me over
- it is understated enough to wear anywhere
- the sweatband handles a hot round
- the fit stays put in wind
Good to know before you buy
- the sizing runs slightly large
- it is pricey for a hat
My verdict
8.2/10 from me. If you play in the sun and want to look normal doing it, the Melin Hydro A-Game earns its spot in the bag. If the sizing runs slightly large is a dealbreaker for you, keep looking.
