Sunice Mercer Vest Review

Outerwear · 5 rounds in my bag

The short version

I did not expect much from the Sunice Mercer Vest, then it blocks the wind without turning me into a bin bag over the ball. I played through steady drizzle for two hours and stayed dry and swinging freely. The catch: the hood is more decorative than useful in real wind.

How it played

No lab and no press-release numbers here: 5 rounds, real turf, real nerves. What I keep coming back to is that it blocks the wind without turning me into a bin bag over the ball. Where it bit me: the hood is more decorative than useful in real wind — worth knowing before you spend the money.

How it looks

Quiet fabric and a cut that does not balloon in a breeze. I care less about that than how it feels, but it does not hurt.

What won me over

  • the sleeves do not ride up on the backswing
  • it packs down small in the bag
  • fully waterproof through a long wet round

Good to know before you buy

  • it runs warm on mild days
  • the price is serious

My verdict

9.3/10 from me. If you play in weather other people cancel in, the Sunice Mercer Vest earns its spot in the bag. If it runs warm on mild days is a dealbreaker for you, keep looking.
