Titleist Pro V1x Review

Golf Ball · 6 rounds in my bag

8.4/ 10

The short version

Pulled the Titleist Pro V1x out on the first tee and it feels soft off the putter without going mushy off the driver, and that is the whole trick. It held its line into a strong wind better than the ball I had played all year. The catch: the cover picks up scuffs from wedge shots faster than I expected.

How it played

I gave it 6 rounds before writing a word, including two in proper wind. What I keep coming back to is that it feels soft off the putter without going mushy off the driver, and that is the whole trick. Where it bit me: the cover picks up scuffs from wedge shots faster than I expected — worth knowing before you spend the money.

How it looks

Clean cover, sensible alignment print, no gimmicks. I care less about that than how it feels, but it does not hurt.

What won me over

  • it feels soft on and around the greens
  • driver spin stays low into wind
  • the alignment print actually helps me

Good to know before you buy

  • you pay for it, box after box
  • it can feel too soft if you like a click

My verdict

8.4/10 from me. If you are good enough that the ball is now the variable, the Titleist Pro V1x earns its spot in the bag. If you pay for it, box after box is a dealbreaker for you, keep looking.
