The short version
Monument is what I picture when someone says desert golf: boulders the size of cars, saguaro framing and a green complex set into the rocks.
How it played
Target golf, so the tee shot decides everything. Firm greens in winter meant landing short and using slopes. Miss the fairway into desert and it's a drop, which keeps the round honest.
How it looks
Granite outcrops, saguaro stands and green sites tucked into natural desert.
What won me over
- the most scenic desert routing in Scottsdale
- greens roll true all winter
- separated holes with no housing on most of the front
Good to know before you buy
- desert misses are lost balls, not recoveries
- five hours is standard in season
My verdict
8.6/10. The Scottsdale round I'd book first.
