The setup

A recent example that stood out was a key par-3 where the pin was tucked dangerously close to a bunker. The player, tied for the lead, was visibly wavering between a safe center-green play and a more aggressive shot at the pin. After a brief discussion, his caddie, with quiet conviction, talked him into taking the safer line. He made par, while his playing partner, going for glory, found sand and made bogey. That single, seemingly small decision, allowed him to maintain momentum and ultimately clinch the victory a few holes later. It wasn’t the splashiest shot, but it was the smartest.
What it means
